Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines introduced a ban on the use of plastic straws on its four ocean ships in June 2018. Plastic cutlery has also been removed throughout its fleet. They have been engaging with staff and customers, asking for feedback on how to reduce single use plastic. On board its ocean ships initiatives have included the removal of single use coffee cups, replacing plastic laundry bags with linen ones and using ropes to secure items during rough seas, rather than plastic.

Fred Olsen Cruises estimate that they will have removed 4 million pieces of plastic in a year by the end of 2018. On one ship cling film use has been cut by 32%; this is now being replicated across its other ships, and plastic jam, butter and milk portion sachets are to be replaced.
