Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge, Nepal

Here’s what Tiger Mountain is doing in Nepal…

Situated in Nepal’s adventure capital, Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge leads by example when it comes to sustainability. Plastic waste reduction is an essential part of this. Guests receive metal water bottles to minimise the number of plastic bottles needed, especially for external excursions. Plastic waste from the lodge is sold to recycling agents for re-use and the money earnt is divided between the lodge staff.

In other cases, the lodge has innovated with plastic waste, e.g. plastic bottles stuffed with collected plastic waste have been used to build a chautrara (resting place) in the local primary school grounds. By introducing bio compostable plastic wrap to replace cling film, paper picnic bags and bio compostable plastic food storage bags, kitchen plastic waste has been drastically reduced.
