Grupo Piñero — stepping up recycling
Between 2015-2018, Grupo Piñero – owner of the all-inclusive hotel chain, Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts - recycled 7,870 tonnes of waste in a continued effort to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill. In 2018 alone, the group, which operates across 30 countries, recovered 3,600 tonnes of recyclable waste — a 64% increase on the previous year.
To move beyond recycling and towards a waste reduction strategy, Grupo Piñero plans to eliminate single-use plastics by 2020, and in 2019 will implement selective waste separation across all offices at an international level.
