Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge, Nepal — Reusing wine bottles
Situated in Nepal’s adventure capital, Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge is continually innovating to reduce plastic waste. The latest initiative turns finished wine bottles into takeaway bottles filled with purified water for guests’ onward journeys. The label asks the next destination to kindly recycle the glass, which helps to share the idea with other hotels and tours so that they can reduce their plastic use.
The lodge also provides guests with reusable metal water bottles for external excursions, has introduced compostable wrap to replace cling film in the kitchen, and uses compostable plastic bags for food storage. Plastic waste from the lodge is sold to recycling agents for reuse and the money earnt is divided between the lodge staff.
